Movie Review: Sherlock Holmes
reviewed by: Tim Tata
Sherlock Holmes was thoroughly enjoyable, with excellent performances from Robert Downey, Jr., Jude Law, Mark Strong, and Rachel McAdams, along with incredibly detailed sets of mid-nineteenth century London. Downey is fun to watch and his performance was terrific. I liked the way he portrayed Sherlock Holmes which was totally different from the books. Even Jude Law as Dr. Watson was wonderful. The storytelling was superb, it doesn't keep you on the edge of your seats but it will keep you glued to the screen. I especially like the flash forward scenes where Holmes plots his set of calculated moves. The scenery was excellent with the depiction of old London during the industrial revolution.
Directed by Guy Ritchie, (who did a fantastic job), gave the movie a new kind of interpretation. He made the movie fast, full of action, and very different from other movie made this year. By the looks of the end of the movie, it seems that Ritchie will be making a sequel. Hopefully soon. The story is typically in the style of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle novels. It sets you up with all sorts of clues, most of which are understood only by Holmes. All the loose ends come together at the end of the movie, along with Holmes' success, which affords a very satisfying movie experience. Sherlock Holmes was an incredible movie and absolute must see. Overall, I would definitely recommend you to go see this in the theaters.
I give this movie 4 1/2 popcorns out of 5.
