Movie Review: New Moon (in theaters)
reviewed by: Lynn Breau

New Moon was the most anticipated sequel of the year, in my opinion.  All who loved the Twilight books and who connected with Bella, Edward, Jake and the Cullens from the first movie, Twilight, were chomping at the bit for more action, more blood, more romance, more love triangles, more, more, more.

For three quarters of the movie I sat patiently waiting for that emotionally drained and tormented Bella (Kristen Stewart) to materialize, but that Bella from Twilight barely made an appearance.  Edward, (Robert Pattinson) was in true vampire form.  His tortured soul emanating from his cold body in the few live appearances he made.

The Cullens made very brief appearances, as well, which was to be expected for this sequel...but, I have to ask the burning question....what is with Jasper's hair?  Mrs. Doubtfire would like her wig back!

It was much more entertaining listening to the ooohs and ahhhhs of the teenage (ok, I may have been ooohing, too) movie goers when Jake showed his newly defined torso, which by the way was well worth the 5 dollars.  Jake (Taylor Lautner), I found, has grown literally and figuratively as an actor making the movie a little less painful to watch.

We should have seen more of the Volturi Coven who impose laws in the vampire world.  It might have been enjoyable to watch more interaction with that family of misfits.  One Volturi that is someone to truly despise if given the chance is Dakota Fanning who plays Jane, capable of torturing other vampires with her mind. Unconscionable, I know!

Sorry Twilight fans, I tried desperately to find the magic in New Moon that I had from the first movie,Twilight, but the magic just wasn't there for me.  New Moon was much better in my imagination while reading the book than watching it on the big screen.

For this Twilight addicted fan New Moon had only a few nibbles and not enough 'Bite'.

I give this movie 2 out of 5 popcorns.
