Movie Review: Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel
reviewed by: Lynn Breau

“Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” – Directed by Betty Thomas.  She last directed the movie, “John Tucker Must Die” in 2006.  Thomas isn’t showing much improvement here. Yes, the kids will probably love it anyway for the cute chipmunks, but parents will be amazed at the stupidity and lack of focus of the plot. I will say this, Theodore is the most adorable chipmunk of them all and he melts my heart every time. The 3 new female chipmunks are as energetic and adorable as their male counterparts. Unfortunately, Dave (Jason Lee) is not in the squeakquel for more than about 3 scenes but is replaced by Toby (Zachary Levi) who barely fills his shoes as the dim, extremely immature, video game addicted nephew. Not exactly the best role model for any child.  I say go ahead, take the children, although, your other option would be to wait and rent this movie so you’ll be able to do something more exciting, like laundry, while the kids are ‘entertained’ for an hour and a half.

I give this move      (for ‘cuteness’)
