Westminster Resident Charity Parrott has been hard at work with several others creating The Massachusetts Midwives Alliance 2010 Calendar/Cookbook, "Born with Midwives". It is available through many midwives and local businesses across the state. The calendar is made up of 12 adorable color photos of babies born into the hands of Massachusetts midwives over the past year. Each month includes information about the midwife, with plenty of space to write in your daily activities. On the reverse side of each 8x10" page of this stand-up calendar is a set of healthy, delicious seasonal recipes for pregnancy and beyond!

 Advertise Your Local Products Here!

If you provide music lessons, art lessons, or any kind of service that can be given as a gift, feel free to use this page as a FREE way to advertise your service to people who read Westminster Vine in December 2009. This is not a free advertising opportunity for people who have their own storefronts, salons or studios. What we're looking for is people who usually put signs on bulletin boards, set up at craft shows, or rely on word of mouth. If you have a business that has its own storefront, this isn't for you, but if you're interested, contact us for advertising possibilities.

To participate in the listing, you must provide the following:

* Photo of item or several items together (one photo only)

* One paragraph narrative description that includes all of the following:

**name of business or catchy name of your entity (if applicable)
**the types of items you sell
**the price range of your items
**a website if you have one
**name of person providing the service
**how people should contact you to purchase (provide email address or phone number)

To participate in the slideshow at the top of this page, send photos with a price and description of each item in the photo. Each person can submit up to 5 photos each, but complete information is necessary on each item in the slideshow. Complete information must be provided and won't have time to seek out missing information.

If you are from Westminster and think your products will blend in well with those offered above, please send the information listed above to Jen Shenk at Westminster Vine.

The pictures and information on items represented on this page were supplied in their entirety by local vendors, craftsmen, artisans and service providers. All assume responsibility to product safety issues including any Board of Health requirements, quality of workmanship and customer service issues. All funds exchanged between customers and advertisers on this page is completely separate from any functions of Westminster Vine.

Other Local Gifts

Westminster Keep It Local Initiative

The Vincent Family and Country Treasures Gift Shop would like to challenge you to help them with the Westminster Keep It Local Initiative. The premise of this initiative is to remind people to consider their buying choices and support businesses in Westminster. They will be circulating hundreds of $2 bills in change given to customers of Country Treasures Gift Shop and Vincent's Country Store.

The $2 bills will have a sticky note on them (sample below). If you receive a $2 bill, with or without the sticky note, try to keep it in Westminster. Whether you pay your babysitter who in turn spends it at the local pizza store or if you use it to buy products from the local food coop or any of the local artisans and service providers on this page, you are truly supporting Westminster's businesses.

Morning Light Knocking

on My Cottage Door

Prints of this original work of art “Morning Light Knocking on My Cottage Door” are available for purchase for $40. The collage work is an artistic interpretation of a Westminster barn door by Princeton, MA artist Leonard Haug. If you would like to order a copy of this print, please make out a check for $40 payable to the “Friends of the Forbush Library,” and leave at the circulation desk of the Forbush library, together with your name and phone number. All orders placed by December 7 will be filled by December 15, well in time for copies of this beautiful print to be used as Christmas gifts. There is one on display at the Library's front desk.

Westminster History

I have used this book as a reference several times and am also reading it cover to cover. It is a fabulous compilation of photos, facts and interesting tidbits about Westminster and its history. Every family should have this beautiful book available for their children to learn about their hometown. This book costs $95. Visit the Historical Society at their Christmas Open House on Saturday, December 12 from 9am-2pm or call 978 874 5569 and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot cider with cookies next to the fire in the fireplace as you think about items in the Gift Shop for that special someone from Westminster. They will also have a Food Sale with sweets for your holiday table!

Westminster Street Listing

This gift is not for everyone, but I like mine so much I thought I'd just offer it as a potential stocking stuffer. For $12.50 at our Town Clerk's Office, you can purchase this nicely bound booklet that lists people in Westminster both by street and alphabetically by last name. This booklet is produced annually with new ones being available in June and can be purchased at the Town Clerk's Office Office Monday through Thursday between 8am to 4:30pm and Fridays from 8am to 1pm. This book has been helpful to me several times. I keep one in the car and one in the house. It is handy when you are trying to find someone's house and you forget their address once en route. It has also helped me when I can't remember someone's name or quite honestly, when I'm curious how old someone is. The book lists first and last names for anyone over 18 and includes street number and name, year of birth and indicates if the person is a registered voter. I remember in the past they also listed occupation, but not any more. Not just for the nosy, this book is a handy reference to have.
